2-color Flange Binding (10:15am to 1:15 pm)


Learn how to sew two different color strips together to make a binding with a flange for your quilt.

Requirements: Rotary Cutter
Sewing Machine in good working condition
power cord
foot pedal
bobbins
needles
cutting mat
ruler
All purpose sewing foot
1/4" foot
Walking foot
clear foot with central line or a #10 for Bernina
Thread to blend with fabrics
bobbin to match back of binding and upper thread to match flange color

Basic Sewing Kit:
pins
seam ripper
thread snips or small scissors
marking pencil

Fabric/Supplies for Project
Quilt ready for binding - baby quilt, table topper or a practice quilted sandwich approximately 25" X 25" or larger.
2 colors of fabric for binding - sufficient yardage to make strips to go around quilt.
If you use any special ruler or tool to cut the end of your bindings to join them at a 45 degree angle, bring it along.

Instructor Bio: Nancy has enjoyed sewing since she was introduced to it in middle school. With an interest in architecture and working for a paint company for over 30 years, quilting became a great hobby when she retired and moved home from New Jersey. After taking many classes at COTTONWOOD and building her skills, she began sharing her passion by designing Mystery Blocks of the Month quilts and teaching at COTTONWOOD!
