BMA-McIntyre-Beginning Machine Applique Class "Swirling Leaves Placemats" - (10:15am-1:15pm) POSTPONED

This class will take you on a journey into machine applique' teaching you the basic techniques you will use for a lifetime.  

Learn about different types of stabilizers, fusible, stitches, threads, and tools for making stunning applique projects.

Each student will practice several interfacing and raw edge applique' techniques and make a beautiful Fall placemat or table topper.

Purchase Festive Fall Quilts Book by Kim Schaefer

Decorative Threads to compliment (Gold Rust, Orange, brown) fabrics and a neutral (for bobbin machine sewing thread)

Machine Needles - variety of sizes 70, 80, 90

22" X 16" batting

Sewing machine (Power cord, foot pedal and User Manual) in good working condition
1/4" foot (ex. Bernina foot #37, #57, or #97)
Open Toe foot (ex: Bernina foot #20)
Wide stitch needle plate
Fabric and Paper Scissors
Iron erasable pen (Frixion)
Stiletto or similar tool
Cutting mat & rotary cutter
Freezer paper (at least 21" X 16")

Invisifil Thread - 100 wt
Transdoodle Big White

Sewing Machine
Please make sure your machine is in good working order with correct tension.
If you don't have an open toe foot, 1/4" foot, and wide stitch needle plate, please order from your dealer to have in time for class.

Bring a variety of complementing threads in several weights and we will talk about the impact they will have on the project if used.
Instructor Bio: Cheryl McIntyre
An engineer by trade, quilting has been Cheryl McIntyre?s passion since she started quilting nearly 40 years ago. With several projects always in progress, she would bind many of her quilts on an airplane while traveling for work. Work travel also afforded her many opportunities to visit quilt shops and quilt shows across America. She enjoys all types of quilting from traditional to modern, from functional to decorative. She has taken classes from leading industry experts who created techniques and tools that have modernized the quilting world. Cheryl has 3 grown children. She and her husband Brian and dog Riley retired to Charlottesville in 2020.
